Carolyn Fitzgerald was born in Cleveland Heights, Ohio as one of seven children. She moved to New York City in her early twenties to pursue a career in the Culinary Arts where she worked as a chef in numerous restaurants. Carolyn was owner/chef of Café Limbo, a popular vegetarian restaurant in Cleveland for six years.

At age 38, after being seriously burned in a house fire, Carolyn made a decision to follow her passion and become an artist. She attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y. on scholarship and earned a BFA with honors.

Carolyn, who has always "made things" began to work on assemblage art while incorporating these crafts. She also started to paint with more interest in three- dimensionality. Each has a way of merging back and forth.

She is a member of the International Miniature Artisans Guild. She has also studied age-old crafts such as French-polishing, gilding and bookbinding.

Carolyn currently lives and works in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, New York.
